On Tuesday, Callaway revealed its new X2 Hot line of golf clubs. The line spans multiple club categories, including drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and irons, with each available in a "Standard" or "Pro" version. With the X2 Hots, Callaway sets its focus squarely on distance.
"With the X2 Hot line, we challenged ourselves to reinvent each product to meaningfully improve distance, speed and forgiveness across every category," said Dr. Alan Hocknell, Senior Vice President, R&D, Callaway Golf. "We worked hard for every extra gram of discretionary weight, every thousandth of an inch of metal, to increase ball speed and overall distance while improving total performance, especially on off-center impact."
The X2 Hot drivers will feature the first instance of what Callaway has dubbed "Hyper Speed Face technology," which the company designed to improve ball speeds and increase distance. Adjustability has not been abandoned, as the drivers will feature eight different loft and lie angle settings. The "Standard" version of the X2 Hot driver is 460cc and available in 9°, 10.5° and 13.5°HT lofts, while the 440cc "Pro" is available comes with 8.5° loft and features a lower, more neutral center of gravity, in addition to an external 7-gram weight.
With a release date set for January 17, 2014, the suggested retail price for the drivers is $349.99, the fairway woods are $229.99, the hybrids are $199.99, and the irons are $799.99 with steel shafts ($899.99 for the Pro version).
